Posted: Sep 30 2011
We are still in awe of all the amazing performances at this years UKAPP so we thought we'd try and talk to more of the winners. Who better than the surprise winner Dan Rosen, who beat the girls at their own game! Let's hope Dan's success and enthusiasm for the pole can help inspire some more men to enter competitions and take up pole dancing. Everyone is welcome!
Dan during his routine at the UKAPP finals
1. Congratulations on winning the expert
catergory at the UKAPP finals. How does
it feel to be a winner?
It feels great to be a winner. It hasn't quite
sunk in yet that I actually won. It's weird to think that this time last year I
was in the crowd just watching the competition and I was at a very basic level.
A year of hard work paid of BIG TIME!!
2. You were the only male competitor in the
category. Did that add to the pressure?
Yes it really does add to the pressure. All the
girls are so bendy and have such beautiful lines. I had to train hard to get
bendy to be able to keep up with them because I could barely do a split when I
started. So many great polers. 9 of us in total. It was an honor just to be in
the same category as them. They were all amazing!!
3. How and why did you first get interested in
pole dancing?
I was at a night club in Milton Keynes where I
first saw some people pole dancing and I instantly fell in love with it. I
started lessons just shortly after that night out.
4. What
was your first lesson like? How did you feel?
My first lesson was great fun. I went to Stacey Pole in Stevenage and I just fell in love with the sport and all the lovely
people. I remember having very sore hands the next day.
5. What is
it about pole dancing that you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the performance aspect of pole dancing.
I love how physical it is and how good it makes me feel about myself when I
achieve a move I have been working on. There isn't any better feeling.
6. What
are the main fitness benefits of pole dancing? what benefits have you noticed?
I eat like a horse so it stops my food from
going straight to my hips and belly and it helps lots with my upper body
strength. It really is a great work out!!
7. What
are your 3 favourite pole moves?
My 3 favorite pole moves are twisted grip
handspring, contortion scorpio and jade splits.
8. Would
you recommend pole dancing?
I would certainly recommend pole dancing to
anyone who wants to become more confident in themselves or wants to get fitter.
Pole dancing was the best thing to happen to me.
